Short and long trips we’d like to take, and places we’d consider living

Here is our candidate destination list, which will be updated periodically. We will link stories to these as we write them, so come back and visit this page.

Vacations and shorter trips

These are quick 1–2 week trips which could be done as vacation prior to retirement, I like the idea of cruises because they provide a mobile hotel room, most meals, and give us a quick taste of several destinations.

• Baltic Cruise — visiting Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Russia, and Latvia or Estonia
• Research for a longer trip to Norway
• Caribbean Cruises — always a good getaway, especially when it’s cold outside
• We’ve done several of these and enjoy the quick getaway and beaches/snorkeling
• We’ve been to Western Caribbean/Mexico, Eastern Caribbean/Bahamas, and Southern Caribbean leaving either out of the mainland or out of Puerto Rico. We tend to like the Southern trips most because of the variety, the short transits between islands, and the chance to see new places.
• Nile River Cruise — we have not been on a river cruise but would like to go..
• Research for a possible longer trip to Egypt
• Mediterranean cruises. We’ve both been to the Med but not on a cruise.
• We’d like to see some of Greece and the Aegean.
• A tour of Israel, Palestine, and the Holy Land
• European rivers and waterways (Danube, Rhine, Elbe, etc)
• Hawaii (timeshare or cruise)
• Australia and New Zealand Cruise
• Bali
• Maine (summer)
• Canada cruise (fall)
• Argentina and Chile
• Tahiti/Bora-Bora/South Pacific
• Turkey Blue Cruise
• Europe River Cruises
• Paris
• River Cruise in France
• Prague
• Tenerife / Canary Islands
